Welcome to Desert Rose Plant Haven! With over 15 years of experience growing these beautiful plants from seed in Kansas City, I take pride in offering a unique selection. All my seeds come from my own plants or are sourced from Thailand and Taiwan, ensuring the highest quality. 

Over the years, I have come to realize desert roses seem to do better in our climate if they are grown here. Simply put, they do better with our long dormancy if they started out here. So that's what I've been doing. I initially started growing Obesum but have found I really like the Arabicum variety with the larger, and chonkier, caudexes. You will seed that based in the selection of seeds I've sourced. Most all are of the arabicum vairety.

I've also come to realize the number of desert roses here in Kansas City are few and far between so I decided to grow them myself. That has allowed me to experiment with the type of adenium I grow and how our environment affects them. Due to our long dormancy here in Kansas City, desert roses tend to go dormant---and stay dormant---for an extended period of time. Knowing that has allowed me to work my growing season around their dormancy.

A lot of what you do for a desert rose comes down to the season, where you live and if, and when, they go dormant. Essentially you have to treat them like two different plants here in Kansas City. In the summer they are in active growth, yet in the winter they go completely dormant and require a completely different care routine.

Over the years I've worked on perfecting the seed starting process, figuring out their soil, and determining how much sun they need. It's also been a process to  adjust their watering needs, based on the season.
